Finally, in displaced fractures, a traction internal rotation AP view of the proximal femur can be quite helpful in establishing the fracture pattern and help determine treatment. One can also place a calibration bearing during the AP pelvis to help with preoperative planning for possible hemiarthroplasty or total hip arthroplasty. Internal rotation of the hips will help to display the femoral necks and allow comparison of the bony contours, which will help identify subtle and impacted fractures. It may be useful to obtain a “low” AP pelvis to show more of the proximal femur, which can be helpful in surgical planning. The standard radiographs to screen for a femoral neck fracture are an AP pelvis and frog leg lateral of the hip. Gentle attempts at internal or external rotation will illicit immediate pain. The patient will typically present with anterior groin pain and an inability to walk, usually with a shortened and externally rotated leg. These fractures generally occur from low-energy mechanisms, such as falls from a standing height, in patients with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Non-operative care is reserved for bedridden patients who are insensate or neurologically impaired, or those with severely limited life expectancy. In general, most patients with femoral neck fractures benefit from surgical intervention, at least for pain control, even older sedentary patients. The timing or urgency for surgical intervention may also depend on which type of fracture has occurred. The indications for surgery and the surgical management differ depending on the type of patient and the type of fracture. Two different patient populations typically sustain femoral neck fractures: older patients who are usually injured in low-energy falls from standing height and younger patients who generally suffer from high-energy mechanisms. The only potential downside of this style of mesh on these bags is that the material itself is a little bit rough, which may affect the garments inside. It also gives dirt and debris room to flow out of the bag and into the water your machine collects and discards, resulting in cleaner clothes all around. The polyester on these three equally-sized bags is durable, while still having a wide-enough weave to allow detergent and water to penetrate your garments. Instead, look for a medium-mesh, as you see on these laundry bags for delicates from Muchfun. The result: Your clothes won’t get as clean as possible. Though super fine mesh gives laundry bags added durability since it limits surface areas where zippers, buttons, or rough materials can snag, this type of material limits the flow of water, soap, and dirt. Or, you can choose the three-piece set, which includes one of each size-excellent for versatility.ĭimensions: 7.1 x 12.6 x 10.2 inches | Material: Recycled polyester | Dryer Safe: No Best Mesh: Muchfun Honeycomb Mesh Laundry Bags These mesh bags come in your choice of three sizes: small, medium, and large. These bags also have a unique shape that comes from boning-the more rigid structure further protects clothes from potential damage. The mesh is ultra-durable and just the right size to protect clothes while allowing the free flow of water and soap for a thorough cleaning. While they are undoubtedly one of the more expensive choices, starting at $8 for one small bag, they are constructed of a premium honeycomb mesh that’s made from recycled polyester. If you’re willing to spend a little bit more to ensure your delicates get the most protection possible, you’ll love the Ondo Premium Mesh Laundry Bag. Keep in mind, the seams around the zipper are prone to wear and tear after many washes, which is slightly disappointing given the higher price point. The zippers are high-quality and glide open and closed without effort, while still keeping your delicates inside during the washing cycle. These mesh laundry bags are exceptionally easy to use and made of durable materials that will last through hot and cold washes. The smaller bag is ideal for, well, smaller items like underwear and socks the larger bag is perfect for bras and can even fit items like shapewear and sweaters. No matter how good a software may otherwise be, if I'm not able to see that they're backed up by good customer service, they're just not a viable option. I would never recommend them to anyone for that reason alone. Their customer service absolutely destroyed them for me. I then sent an email to the email address listed in the Paypal dispute, and it was only after I finally messaged them on Facebook and stated that I would post negative reviews that I got any response from anyone at all. I had to open a dispute with Paypal, at which point it seems TickTick lied to Paypal because they closed my dispute saying that TickTick had issued the refund. Well after the 14-day window passed, they had not opened my emails or responded in any way. They offer a 14-day refund policy, so since I was within the 14 day window, I followed their steps to request a refund. However, I still felt it was useful for others and would have happily recommended it to others. In the end, I decided the software wasn't for me. However, other than that, I love everything about this app/program. I guess one thing that I would like is for there to be an option on my watch to view ALL of my lists, and tasks, not just the ones that I've put a time limit on. This company has really thought it all through, and I love that. In all honesty, the only cons I have ever run into with TickTick were later discovered to be a user error on my part. It's extremely user friendly, and intuitive, and that can't be said about a lot of programs I tried. There are so many different ways to add, sort, and view your tasks. In fact, it was so easy, I began using it for my work life AND my personal life, with great ease and efficiency. I did not have to look up tutorials or "how-to" videos online in order to begin implementing it into my work day. TickTick is actually the only to-do list app/program I’ve been able to introduce to my own mother, and have her use daily for her own to-do lists - because it’s just that easy. It bridges the gap between all sorts of different areas, and I genuinely love it. It’s a program that can easily be used in not only your professional work life/career, but can also be a huge asset in your personal life/social schedule organization as well. TickTick has been the ONLY program (and I’ve tried many!) that has broken my “paper notes only” habit. Like the Knife, it will cut though whatever and however many shapes it's dragged over (as long as they're unlocked). The Eraser Tool has yet another effect when it’s used to cut. Illustrator How to Cut a Shape Using the Eraser Tool If you want to close the shapes, select the two end-points using the white Direct Selection Tool and select Object/Path/Join (or Control J). You now have two unenclosed shapes - the open edges of the shapes have no strokes, as there is no path to stroke along these edges. Now if you deselect the shape and then click / drag one of the new sections, you’ll see how this differs from the Knife Tool. Then click on the other side of the shape where you want the other end of the cut to be. This will create an anchor point (or select an existing anchor point if clicked on). Select the Scissors Tool and click anywhere on the edge of the shape that you’ve created. In fact, if it cuts an enclosed shape in half, you’ll end up with two unenclosed shapes - but the overall appearance of the original shape will be retained. This tool will only work on a single shape at a time, and it will not enclose paths after a cut has been made. The Scissors Tool is a slightly different kettle of fish. Illustrator How to Cut a Shape Using the Scissors Tool This will only cut the selected shapes - all others will remain unaffected. Having said that, if you only want one shape in a pile of shapes to be cut, or if you only want some but not all shapes to be affected, just select the shapes you want to cut before dragging the knife across, leaving the other shapes deselected. If any of the shapes were not enclosed before being cut by the Knife Tool, they will be enclosed once the Knife has done its work. As long as the shape isn't locked or hidden, the Knife will slice through anything it passes over. The Knife Tool will work on as many shapes as you want at the same time, including groups of shapes. This will result in several sections, all of which become their own independent shapes. You could also make a ‘zig zag’ cut across the shape, cutting back and forth before releasing the mouse button. You’ll see that you’ve cut the shape into two parts, each part with a closed path, indicated by the fact that both sections have a stroke all the way around. Now click a part of the shape and drag it away. Deselect the shape (which will have become selected when the cut was made). The shape will now show an additional stroke along the line you’ve just cut. Release when you’ve passed all the way over the shape. It doesn’t matter whether or not the shape is selected for this process, but with the Knife selected, click on the artboard (away from the shape) and drag across the shape where you want to slice across it. The random shape I've created has an irregular stroke applied to it via the Irregular Width Profile submenu. If you give the shape a stroke it'll help to demonstrate some of the differences between the tools. These three tools are used to cut or remove parts of an Illustrator element in slightly different ways.įirst, create a simple shape. The little submenu conceals two tools in addition to the Eraser Tool: The Scissors Tool and the Knife, the latter of these being represented by a little serrated blade. For example, included in the Illustrator Tool Bar is an Eraser Tool which has a little submenu arrow: Illustrator How to Cut a Shape Using the Knife ToolĪll the buttons on the tool bar that have a tiny arrow in the bottom right corner (pointing down and to the right) indicate that the button conceals more tools in a submenu, accessible when you hold the button down. However, the five methods explained on this page cut a shape in Illustrator in slightly different ways. As ever, there are lots of different ways to achieve lots of different things in Illustrator, and cutting a shape is one of them. This article has been written using Adobe Illustrator CS6, but the steps are the same no matter what version you're using. How to cut one shape out of another in Illustrator.Cutting a shape using the Crop Tool (this deletes unwanted elements outside a specific shape).Cutting a shape using the Clipping Mask Tool (this masks to a specific shape rather than cuts).Cutting a shape using the Scissors Tool.Illustrator How to Cut a Shape This article covers in Adobe Illustrator how to cut a shape using one of five methods: Using a power drill, secure each end of your new center beam to your bed frame.Place your cut wood block underneath the new center beam directly in the center, and drill 2 wood screws into the block through the top of the plywood center beam to secure them together.Repeat step four for your new support leg using a 4×4 block of wood.Use a pencil to mark your new center beam measurement on a 1×4 wooden board and use a saw to cut it yourself, or take your measurements to a hardware store to have a professional cut a piece of wood for you.Measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the center beam to determine how long your new support leg needs to be.Measure the width of the inner bed frame from side to side and determine the length of your new center beam.Unscrew the center beam from your bed frame. Each plank should be about 2 ft away from the supportive center beam Replace The Supportive Center Beam – If you suspect the center beam to be the only problematic piece of your bed frame, you can get rid of it all together and replace it with something that’ll offer a bit more support. Use a power drill to secure the new wooden planks to the inner lip of the bed frame.Place one board on the right of the center beam and the other on the left side, about 2 or 2 1/2 feet away from the frame’s middle bar.Repeat steps one and two to come up with another wood slat, or, if you aren’t the best handyman, take your measurements to your nearest hardware store like Home Depot where they’ll cut the wood for you.Use a pencil to mark the length on a 1×4 ft wooden board and use a hand saw to cut off the excess wood.Measure the inner width of the bed frame to figure out how long you need your new slats to be.This will help combat mattress sagging, and will enable your bed frame to withstand more weight. Repeat for any other disconnected joints you see.Īdd Bed Slats – If you have a basic run-of-the-mill bed frame that has only a perimeter and a supportive center beam, adding slats will beef it up so it’s more sturdy and supportive. Afterwards, you’ll want to gently hammer the joint together and use something like a clamp to safely hold it together while it dries. If you have a bed frame that was previously glued, lay cloth around each side of the joint and reapply wood glue to the inside. Using a mallet, gently hammer the joint together and repeat for any others that need to be rejoined. Lay cloth on both sides of the joint to prevent possible damage, and ask a friend or family member to help you hold the frame. Separated bed frame joints can destabilize a bed frame, making it wobble and sway. Reconnect Joints – If you’re sleeping on a wooden bed frame, reconnect any joints that may have shifted over time. But the good news is that it’s a real easy fix - just tighten them up with a screwdriver or a wrench! Loose screws and bolts are common culprits behind a squeaky and wobbly bed. Tighten Bed Frame Screws – First you should double check all of your bed’s individual slats (if there are any) and screws to make sure nothing is loose - even the legs. Suggested Materials – A drill, 1-inch screws, and a second-hand bed frame Below are a few ways you can get your bed frame - almost - as good as new.ĭepending on your issue and the type of bed frame you own, there are a few different ways you can approach the problem. This essentially means you’re making it more supportive, sturdy, and much quieter (hallelujah). Instead of forking out several hundred dollars or more for a new bed frame, you can buy yourself some time by reinforcing your current bed frame. There’s nothing worse than an unstable, noisy bed frame that squeaks and wiggles with every sudden movement you make. For more information, please see How we make money. What Happens If A Baby Swallows Paper?Īccording to Dr. Consuming food, malnutrition, specific deficiencies of nutrients (most notably iron), obsessive compulsive disorder, a calming habit for emotional stress, and autism are just a few of the conditions associated with pica. Certain foods can cause health problems.Ĭhildren indulge in pica in a variety of ways, some of which are considered risky by some. However, children with pica (PIE-kuh) go beyond that. Young children are frequently interested in the world around them and consume non-food items (such as grass or toys) in large quantities as a result. In pica, eating things that are not commonly regarded as food is considered an eating disorder. Is Paper sleeping related to baby development? If your baby is having paper dreams while sleeping, it could be that he or she is having trouble sleeping. If your baby loves paper, he or she might be curious about its smell and taste. You’ll have a calmer baby, and your baby’s food will be secure and less irritable because you’ll know when and where to eat. Furthermore, feeding your baby on a regular basis can help them develop healthy eating habits. If your baby is eating every 1.5 to 2 hours, make their eating schedule flexible. Teethers can be found in a variety of sizes and shapes. It can be difficult for babies to get used to the sensation of having their teeth pulled. Due to their growth, babies require an average of one and a half to two hours of feeding per day. If Pica is treated, an improved diet can be developed that provides enough nutrition for the baby on a regular basis. A pica is a craving or desire for non-food items, as explained in more detail below. A child development stage chart, which sheds light on the causes of a child’s behavior, is a fantastic tool and compass. Consider your baby’s developmental stage if you want to figure out what is causing the problem. Why does your baby eat paper? has compiled a list of ten reasons why your baby may be eating paper. If you are concerned, please contact your child’s healthcare provider. If a baby does eat paper, it is important to watch for any signs of discomfort or distress. While paper is not toxic, it is not easily digestible and can cause problems for a baby’s digestive system. So, can babies digest paper? The answer is yes, but it is not recommended. It is not uncommon for a baby to put paper into their mouth and start to chew on it. Some babies will also chew on objects as they explore the world around them. This reflex is what helps them to feed from their mother’s breast but it can also cause them to put other things, such as their fingers or toes, into their mouth. Babies are born with a natural instinct to suck and this is often referred to as their rooting reflex.
